What is News Impact Analysis?
This analysis shows how news announcements and updates affect a game's wishlist performance on Steam. We track how many positions a game climbs in the wishlist rankings during the 3 days following each news announcement.
How to read this data: Higher "Wishlist Rank Improvement" values mean better performance. For example, a value of "+155" means the game climbed 155 positions in the wishlist rankings after the news was published.

Methodology & Interpretation
How We Calculate Impact
We track changes in a game's wishlist ranking for 3 days following each news announcement. The total improvement in ranking positions during this period is shown as "Rank Improvement." Estimated wishlists added are calculated based on the game's current position and historical conversion rates.
Limitations
This analysis shows correlation, not necessarily causation. Other factors may influence wishlist rankings simultaneously:
- Concurrent marketing campaigns
- Influencer or streamer coverage
- Seasonal sale events
- Algorithm changes on Steam
